OUR STORY

"Rigas Laivas" has been paddling through the city's canals and waters since 2010. The idea to create kayak rental spot came from visiting friends in Holland, staying there in the city and looking for some fun activities to do. That time we found an option to kayak trough the city's canals. The idea seemed great and we thought this would be awesome activity to do in Riga too. There are so many exciting waterways worth to visit in Riga - the wide Daugava, various urban canals and the beautiful Kisezers.

Back then we started "Riga Laivas" with just six kayaks. The base was located in a creative hub - Floating Workshop of Andrejsala. At that time there was also the office of our company "Luzumpunkts". We quickly added two more used sea kayaks that came all the way from the Norwegian fjords. As the environment of Andrejsala changed, Rigas Laivas moved to the Andrejsosta Yacht Club. This place allowed us to kayak in most of the weather conditions, because the entrance to the city canal is not dependent to winds in Daugava. We paddle trough early spring to late autumn and sometimes even in winter.

During the time the amount of our rental kayaks grew and we added also SUP paddle boards to our rental equipment. We are choosing carefully our equipment because all that we have, we love to use ourselves. "Rigas laivas" always has been so close to "Lūzumpunkts" team, that this year we choose to rebrand "Rīgas laivas" to "Lūzumpunkts laivas".

When our office team has been overwhelmed by amount of work, they love to escape for little kayaking trips. It helps to clear the head and rise energy levels.  

"Lūzumpunkts laivas" brings us and other people closer to our capital city. We help to explore Riga from a different angle. No matter how many times the routes has been kayaked, it always gives you the opportunity to discover something new. We are grateful that "Lūzumpunkts laivas"  makes this city more alive and creative.
